SYNOPSIS
In a very competitive professional environment, it is more and more important for dentists to offer the highest quality of care. Not only is esthetics sought after by their patients, but also are longevity of the restoration, and preservation of the biological tissues.

In this lecture, the importance of using magnification in association with shadowfree lighting will be emphasized. Basic concepts of vision and magnification applicable to dental microscopy will be presented. Through clinical examples, the participants will discover how the Dental Operating Microscope (DOM) can enhance the quality of care while elevating the predictability and longevity of esthetic outcomes. Participants will also learn how to improve posture through the use of the DOM and increase chairside efficiency. Demonstration of the powerful capabilities of modern DOM will be presented highlighting the ease with which clinicians can document exquisite details intraorally using still high definition images and/or video.

At the end of this session, participants should:
  • Appreciate how magnification can enhance high-quality dentistry
  • Learn how the DOM can provide a wide range of magnification and illumination needed to optimize the various clinical tasks
  • Learn how the DOM can improve the ergonomics and the efficiency of the operator
  • Understand how the DOM can streamline and improve the quality of case documentation
  • Be ready to try a microscope !
